When tasked with developing learning curriculums or training materials, the instructional designer's role varies depending on which phase of the project the individual is in. Along the journey from discovery to deployment, instructional designers are content writers, graphic designers, animators, web developers, focus group facilitators, user experience consultants, learning management system administrators, and project managers—sometimes all at once. Designing learning materials can be even more complicated when considering what the roles and responsibilities may look like for a team of instructional designers tasked to work on one enormous project with staggered deliverables, deadlines, and tasks.
