Talent development doesn't necessarily stop once an employee has left an organization. A recent survey by the Workforce Institute at Kronos and WorkplaceTrends.com found that it's increasingly common for employees to return to an organization years after they left. The majority of HR and people managers surveyed said that they were more accepting of "boomerang" employees now than in previous years. In fact, organizations that used to have policies against hiring former employees no longer enforce those policies; instead, they're concerned about maintaining relationships with high-performing employees who have left for other opportunities, in hopes that they might one day return.
