About six months ago, the digital services group 18F (part of the General Services Administration) launched its U.S. Web Design Standards, created to bring design uniformity to government websites. The standards contained a visual style guide, common user interface components and patterns, and more. With the release came a call to action: 18F invited tech-savvy citizens to contribute code and ideas to
a collaborative GitHub page.
