House Democrats are pushing legislation that would provide six weeks of paid parental leave for federal employees. According to research cited by Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-N.Y.), the chief sponsor of H.R. 532, paid parental leave would reduce turnover, leading to decreased costs for hiring and training new employees and increased productivity and morale in the federal workforce.
