During his first one hundred days in office, President Barack Obama showed a preference for using pragmatic approaches to tackle big policy and implementation challenges. To do so, his administration is developing large-scale networks in areas such as food safety, healthcare reform, and climate change. Some complain that this is centralizing too much power in the White House, but others see it as a way of finally integrating related but long-disconnected efforts to focus more effectively on achieving policy outcomes.
