Managing the Bad Apples

Holding employees accountable for their performance can foster increased engagement among the whole team.

At some point in your career it is likely that you encountered a bad apple—someone who is performing poorly or who has a conduct issue. That employee might have affected you in different ways. Maybe you had to do extra work to cover for the poor performer; perhaps you avoided the employee with conduct issues even though interacting with that person was necessary to your job; maybe you
