In the world of physics, a tipping point is considered the point at which an object is displaced from a state of stable equilibrium into a new, different state. In sociology, a tipping point refers to an event in which a previously rare phenomenon becomes dramatically more common. In the workplace learning arena, many practitioners still struggle to move from an equilibrium of activity-based learning measures to results-based measures that reflect the direct contribution of the learning and development function to tangible business outcomes.
