Demographic studies show that the U.S. population is more diverse than ever. In 2004, more than four million immigrants entered the United States. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, nonwhites will represent more than one-third of the U.S. population by 2010 and close to half of the U.S. population by 2050. By the end of 2005, the ethnic minority share of the U.S. workforce likely will reach 28 percent, up from 18 percent in 1980 and 22 percent in 1990. It is projected that the Hispanic-American population will be the largest minority group in the United States by 2010. And, global business outsourcing is growing exponentially.
