An engaged trainee is willing and compelled to participate in the learning process. They take advantage of opportunities to act in the learning process, concentrate, and proceed with positivity, enthusiasm, and curiosity. On the other hand, disengaged learners are those who do not try, give up in the face of challenge, and are rarely involved in their learning process. The disengaged pose a challenge for us as trainers. What tools can we use to engage them? Will they remain disengaged no matter what we do? Handling the disengaged may be the key to creating a training environment with transfer potential.
