Once when I was an part of the instructional design team for a large pharmaceutical company, the leadership of the training department decided to throw an appreciation party for the entire training team. Folks were flown in from the regional training centers. The party was held onsite in the large ballroom-sized space in the training center. We had music and beverages, and the food was fantastic. It was a wonderful event, but it left a sour taste in the mouth of most who attended. Why? The leadership team wasn’t there.
