I’ve always had a problem with the “A” in the acronym KSA. Knowledge is easy to quantify, as is skill. But how do you quantify attitude? Over the years I have preferred to use the term “ability” as a representation of one’s demonstration of using knowledge and skills to make the right decisions or think through any given situation. The word “attitude” to me sounds too intangible and most often denotes negative characteristics. However, I’ve seen that human qualities, such as attitude, are becoming ever more important in the hiring and promotion of workers. Knowledge and skills alone do not necessarily make someone an ideal employee.
