Before learners can begin to comprehend or apply anything we tell them, they must first decode and interpret everything we say. That’s a no-brainer, right? We all know that talent development depends upon on clear and concise communication, but we often unknowingly shoot ourselves in the foot and leave learners out in left field at the drop of a hat by beating around the bush. In other words, we undermine our own talent development efforts, obscure communication, and instantly confuse learners by using ambiguous expressions they do not understand.
