As a rookie learning and development leader, I was still becoming oriented to my new role. My predecessor, who had transferred into another position in our organization, had been working with our organizational leadership on a leadership development program outsourced to a vendor. She had been tasked with designing a leadership program that was also suitable for senior leaders. The previously run homegrown leadership development program lacked strategic competency needs of senior leaders. With limited in-house resources, she had turned to a reputed vendor that the organization had already engaged for industry research and advisory services.
