ATD asked 724 talent development professionals about their organization’s onboarding, engagement, and development programs. The study details talent development’s role in key program areas of focus, as well as the effectiveness of each program area. Onboard, Engage, and Develop also examined the current importance of each of the three program areas, expectations for the program areas, and the difference between the two. The report further discusses how the program areas are most commonly evaluated and the effectiveness of these evaluation efforts. The report includes case studies from three organizations—New York Community Bank, Persistent Systems, and MTR—as well as advice from practitioners that highlight effective onboarding, engagement, and development programs.
