In Organizational Use of AI For Talent Development: A Focus on AI Literacy, ATD sought to learn more about how TD professionals view AI safety and security, how they are training employees on AI, how they are using AI, whether AI has improved their work, and any concerns they have about AI.

This study’s key findings include:

  • 70 percent of respondents said their organization’s TD or training department currently uses AI solutions and tools.

  • Of organizations that are using AI, 89 percent said they are using generative AI (such as ChatGPT or other AI that generates content), and 38 percent said they use traditional AI, which performs automated tasks using predetermined rules and algorithms.

  • Of organizations that are using AI, 83 percent said they used more AI in TD over the past year, while 17 percent said their use of AI in TD hasn’t changed in the past year.

  • The majority of respondents are concerned about AI safety and accuracy—96 percent indicated some level of concern about AI.

This study can help organizations benchmark their AI understanding and usage. It provides advice on best practices and concludes with suggested action steps and ATD resources to help TD professionals understand AI and how to best use it at their organization.
