ABOUT ME

Chris Lumia started his career as an adult education teacher for Hillsborough County Schools, and then transitioned into higher education. From 2008 through 2014, he served with the College of Education at St. Petersburg College (SPC) in various roles. While serving at SPC, Chris also worked as a both a Realtor and as a real estate referral agent.

Chris then moved into a corporate training role, and is currently a Lead Trainer for My Florida Regional MLS. His responsibilities include conducting customized trainings on MLS software products, developing courses and training materials, assisting in the development of an internal staff certification training program, building relationships with agents and brokers across a territory, and assisting the Customer Engagement/Training team with special projects.

In 2015, Chris founded the Sawgrass Real Estate Academy, which offers the Florida sales associate pre- and post-licensing courses, Florida broker pre- and post-licensing courses, and continuing education courses.

Chris has a bachelor's degree in economics, master's degree in business administration and a specialist's degree in higher education leadership. He is a licensed real estate broker in Florida, a registered appraiser-trainee, a licensed Community Association Manager, holds a FL Real Estate Instructor Permit, and completed the e-Pro certification through the National Association of Realtors.

Chris is proud to have served as a founding board member and treasurer of Creating Jobs, Inc., a 501(c)(3) organization that trains and mentors entrepreneurs from impoverished communities around the globe. (www.creatingjobs.org)

Chris lives in Clearwater with his wife Taryn, who is the music teacher and performing arts director at St. John Vianney Catholic School in St. Pete Beach. Chris and Taryn recently welcomed their daughter Carley into the world!
