Joan C. Smith is an HR career change agent.
Joan earned a BA in Journalism from Clark/Atlanta University and a Master’s of Science in Human Resources Management from Southern New Hampshire University in December 2017. Joan graduated with honors and is a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success.
Joan has been a featured blogger with Gov Loop blogging on Career and Human Resources subject matters in addition to serving as a Gov Loop Ambassador. Joan was also a Brand Ambassador and Independent Contractor for J.T. O’Donnell’s “Work It Daily-Career Hub,” the fastest growing career network on social media. Joan was recently featured on HR Masterpiece’s “Shine The Light” blog. Additionally, in 2018, Joan was a featured guest podcaster on the Business Men and Women of Color show where she spoke on “ The Importance of Understanding the Full Potential of Human Resources.”
Joan is a member of The Society of Human Resources Management (local and National chapters), and the Metro DC Chapter of The Association of Talent Management. Joan was also a mentee in the DC ATD chapter’s 2017 Mentoring program. Last June, she assisted the Director of Program’s ATD Mentoring program as a Program Coordinator. In July 2018, Joan completed a Virtual-mentoring program as a mentee with the NJ chapter of the National Association of African Americans in Human Resources (NAAAHR).
Joan also enjoys workplace wellness and served as a Health and Wellness Ambassador through her current employer for two years.
