Jonathan Halls is author of Confessions of a Corporate Trainer: An Insider Tells All (2019), Rapid Media for Trainers (2016), Rapid Video Development for Trainers (2012), Video Script Writing (2014) and Memory & Cognition in Learning (2014). He is a contributing author to Speak More (2012) and the ASTD Handbook: The Definitive Reference for Training & Development 2nd Edition (ASTD Press, 2014).
A regular speaker at learning conferences around the globe he was keynote speaker at ATD BEST Awards Conference and Core Four and others. Halls has written numerous articles for T&D magazine, the ATD Website, Learning Solutions Magazine, and Training Industry.com.
Jonathan is active in the profession and has served as a reviewer for the ASTD BEST Awards, been a member of the program advisory committees for the ASTD International Conference & Exposition and TechKnowledge and most recently, served on the Advisory Panel for ATD’s new Capability Model.
The former learning executive today runs train the trainer programs and professional development workshops for seasoned trainers, as well as workshops on digital media production for training and talent professionals. He provides coaching and consulting for learning executives and training managers on digital transformation, learning science, future planning, and increasing training’s/talent’s credibility within an organization and stakeholders.
Based today in the Washington DC area, the former BBC learning executive is also an adjunct professor at George Washington University. Over the past 3 decades, he’s worked at all levels of talent development in 25 countries from leading the learning function to consulting and delivering workshops. He formerly ran the BBC’s prestigious TV Training department, a multimillion dollar operation, was managing director of Talkshow Communication Ltd, in London and has consulted with leading media organizations around Europe and Asia. He started his career as a journalist and talk show host.
Jonathan facilitates ATD’s Master Trainer Program ™ and ASTD’s Rapid Video for Learning Professionals Certificate program, and the Change Management Certificate. He has a B.Ed in adult education and an M.Ed in adult education.
