Kim Carpenter

My corporate career began in the advertising world of dot-com era New York City. I climbed the ladder quickly and within nine years had a team of thirty direct reports and a portfolio that included the first digital marketing initiatives for clients such as Mercedes, Blue-Cross Blue-Shield, and Johnson&Johnson.

Much as I loved the work, my favorite part of being a manager was helping team members capitalize on their strengths to develop as leaders. I instinctively knew that by putting people at the center of everything we did, success was inevitable.

I eventually left corporate and took a year-long sabbatical to study psychology and the science of motivation while completing my executive coaching certification. Since then, I’ve had the great privilege to work as a global speaker, trainer, executive leadership coach, and organizational change facilitator with hundreds of clients, from Fortune 500s to start-up social impact ventures.

While I began my coaching career working with entrepreneurs, most of my current clients are small and medium-sized businesses doing the crucial work to create innovative corporate cultures. I’m drawn to these businesses – and the forward-thinkers who run them –  because they know that a thriving workforce is key to doing great things in the world. They recognize that employees now spend more time with their colleagues than with their families. Work isn’t just a place where people go to earn a paycheck anymore – it shapes identity, values, purpose, and culture.

Of course, creating a compelling work culture doesn’t happen overnight. Through the years, I’ve developed a reputation as the executive coach who builds team cohesion, increased revenue, and high employee engagement. I bring ten years of experience as a leader, senior manager, trainer, and IT project manager and 15 years in executive coaching to my working relationships. Plus another decade of training in conversational intelligence, neuro-linguistic programming, advanced communication skills, business turnarounds, and entrepreneurship.

I'm a member of the International Coach Federation and a graduate of Coach U's Advanced Coach Training Program. I'm also the founder of World Changing Women, a support ecosystem for female leaders on the cutting edge of business evolution, and the CEO of People at the Center, a boutique leadership coaching and consultancy firm supporting innovative small businesses facing accelerated growth.

When I’m not leading workshops or working with clients one-on-one, I’m always looking for a mountain to climb, a craft project to obsess over, or a way to give back to my community. And, I have the coolest cat in the world – Cosmos – who loves to make cameo appearances during Zoom meetings.
