Happy Friday Everyone:
WHAT DO YOU GET OUT OF LEARNING DESIGN NETWORKING?
Last week I attended an hour long online “Meetup” for Learning Development Professionals. I didn’t know what to expect of it. When I popped on there were around 40 people in the virtual room, but that grew as the event went on.
We did some activities, broke up into breakout rooms a couple times, & basically it was a success in allowing people to connect at least a little.
Was it more successful than a drink at the bar with a new colleague after 10 hours of presentations at an in-person event? I don’t know. I've definitely heard people talking about how much they miss live conferences, lately.
This got me to thinking about what we as professionals actually get out of networking. Sure, you get to bounce an idea or two off people, but what are the concrete returns?
I know I have had people I met at conferences (live & virtual) that have had great impact on my thinking & processes. Sometime a simple comment someone makes in an online chat can turn into an entire project.
So let me ask you:
What is the BEST impact on you (or a project you were working on) from a networking event/conference, and CAN YOU TIE IT to a bottom line?
