Leading Learners: How Smart Companies Are Rethinking the Role of Leaders

Tuesday, May 8, 2018

According to a recent survey by Deloitte, organizations spent more than $30 billion last year on leadership development programs, yet 24 percent of participants reported getting little or no value, and 40 percent got only some. What are we doing wrong? In this session, you'll explore the paradox of psychological safety, the role of control, and the myth of money as motivation. You will collaborate to create a design using Legos, experience different management styles, and directly see and feel how those strategies affect motivation. Following the interactive activity, we'll discuss the learning points. The speaker will present data on what we know about intrinsic motivation, and how we can structure management and talent development strategies to support learners. You will learn how to ditch the habits that are holding leaders, teams, and organizations back, and explore new tools for leading the workforce of the future.
