What’s the Latest on Leadership Development?

Recent research explores how organizations are investing in it.

New ATD research found that workers who receive leadership development opportunities experience improved job performance (68 percent), increased confidence (59 percent), and a boost in productivity (56 percent). And nearly eight in 10 companies report improved organizational culture when they provide leadership development to all employees. Unfortunately, less than half of companies surveyed have started offering leadership development programs to workers at all levels.

By the Numbers stats on leadership development:
57%
of training professionals are using artificial intelligence to create content for leadership development; 41% are using AI to facilitate scenario-based learning.

of midlevel managers indicate a need for further leadership development; 2 in 3 organizations require leadership development for people managers.

of leaders report feeling fully prepared to meet future role expectations, with preparedness gaps most pronounced among midlevel leaders.

Participants of social-based leadership development programs completed 7.4 more lessons than the fully self-paced programs. 

3.7x
High-potential talent is nearly 4 times more likely to leave without leadership development opportunities.
