About Our Talent Development Credentials
The ATD Certification Institute provides globally recognized credentials that help talent development professionals build expertise, validate skills, and advance their careers. Our credentials are grounded in research-backed, industry-wide standards and support continuous professional growth through certification and recertification.
The credentialing journey begins with Essentials for Practitioners in Talent Development, an assessment-based certificate program that introduces the core knowledge, skills, and responsibilities of the profession. It is designed for those new to talent development or looking to strengthen their foundation before pursuing certification.
Experienced professionals can earn the Associate Professional in Talent Development (APTD®) and the Certified Professional in Talent Development (CPTD®) credentials. Based on the Talent Development Capability Model™, not a particular course, these globally recognized certifications validate practical expertise and professional credibility across industries and organizations in more than 60 countries. APTD and CPTD credential holders have demonstrated their knowledge and skills against a consistent, rigorous standard by examination. They continue to meet the standards through certification renewal every three years.
