The Accidental Trainer

Wednesday, April 1, 2020

Many talent development professionals come into the field as accidental trainers, people so excellent at their work that they begin training others. Of course, the challenge becomes channeling that expertise into a new set of skills: designing and delivering powerful adult learning experiences.

If you find yourself in that situation, one resource is the Association for Talent Development's Accidental Trainer. Hosted by Lisa Spinelli, ATD's career development senior content manager, the twice monthly podcast features industry experts who share stories and tips about how to grow a career in training and talent development.

For example, in the first episode, Spinelli interviews William Arruda and talks about personal branding and his new book Digital You. In another episode, career development expert Bev Kaye discusses how talent is everything. And in episode 8, Whitney Johnson describes how she left her successful Wall Street career to become an expert on personal disruption.

In every episode, experts share tips and personal guidance as well as actionable information for listeners.
