How to Nail the Interview

Tuesday, August 10, 2021

This is a moment of transition and upheaval. As such, you may find yourself looking for a new job. To land the dream position, though, you’re going to have to perform well in the interview. The sobering truth is that few candidates do. To outperform your competitors, here are some tips to shine during the interview process. First, learn about the company’s story and become familiar with its products and services. Learning about who they are and what they do will help you better demonstrate how your skills and experiences differentiate you from other candidates. It can also help to research who you’re interviewing with and prepare ice-breaking questions. That said, ensure that your questions are meaningful and that your line of inquiry is driving toward substantive responses. Finally, ensure the environment is free of distraction. Prepare yourself to be fully present during the interview process. This may mean taking a moment or two to decompress in your car, taking a walk around the building, or doing a quick breathing exercise in the lobby.
