How to Truly Support Health and Well-Being in Your Workplace

Monday, May 10, 2021

The pandemic caused us to rethink a lot of things personally and professionally—what we value, where we work, how we work, and what we prioritize. Many organizations have picked up on the paradigm shift and have tried to help support their employees through uncertain times. However, even though 96 percent of companies have provided additional resources through the global health crisis, only one in six employees currently feel supported. Instead of paying lip-service to the changing winds in the workforce, forward-thinking leaders should take the steps to support their employees the way they need to be supported. Start by adding more day-to-day flexibility. Asynchronous communications practices and giving employees more control over where and how they work is a great start. Additionally, forgo the notion that longer hours mean more productivity. Look at output and quality over hours put in. Finally, demonstrate that you value health and well-being by providing resources. Mental health training and access to other resources can go a long way in this regard.

"Start by adding more day-to-day flexibility."
Such a (seemingly) simple change to make, and SO MEANINGFUL for employees who crave just a bit of agency and autonomy - - which can significantly improve engagement, productivity, and more.
