The Importance of Committing to Continued Education

Friday, May 6, 2016

One of the best ways managers can ensure that their workforce is as effective and productive as it can be is to support the continuing education of their employees. According to a study released by EvoLLution, 96 percent of employers agree that continuing education improves the job performances of their employees, and many of the companies consistently rated as the top places to work will prioritize learning opportunities for their employees. Not only does this strengthen the skills base of their workforce, but it helps attract and retain top-performing employees. But there are some organizations that take the opposite view, that employees should already possess the skills necessary to do their job well, and if they want to augment their skills, they should do it on their own time. This is a dangerous mindset, and one that might ultimately sabotage an organization. If organizations offer continued learning opportunities, employees will feel more engaged in their work, and will tackle tougher problems in the office. Additionally, it will create a strong leadership pipeline of talent.
