Revamping and Prioritizing Training

Monday, May 18, 2015

Studies have shown that the knowledge employees gain through conventional learning methods isn’t retained beyond a year in 90 percent of workers. Because of this, companies are looking to revamp their training processes, with the help of big data and cloud computing. These new technologies have made it easier and cheaper for companies to track employees on a variety of metrics, and have given managers the ability to create customized training programs and microlearning curriculums to ensure employees are constantly improving. By focusing on training in this way, many companies are seeing increases in their bottom lines. Training is an important aspect of human capital management, and should be viewed as an investment rather than an expense. By investing thousands of dollars in employee training, million-dollar mistakes can be avoided in the future. However, in order for training to be effective, it must be prioritized and integrated into the company culture. Managers must be made to understand its importance, and the various teams should feel empowered by the resources the company is investing in them.
