In the human capital marketplace, it’s a seller’s market, so to speak. Skilled job seekers are in high demand, and as hiring managers compete for top talent, job offers, on-the-job perks and salaries are all growing. This is particularly true in the tech industry. “It’s really the technologists’ choice right now. They can be very picky,” Jack Cullen, president of IT staffing and recruiting firm Modis says. Strengthening the trend is the growing willingness of IT professionals to consider changing jobs, and it’s not uncommon for those with hugely marketable skills, such as security, app development or data science, to end up with multiple offers – even while they are still currently employed. This has made the job market, particularly in the tech field, far more fluid. According to Dice, a tech careers website, 40 percent of tech firms reported an increase in voluntary departures by 2014’s end compared with the middle of the year. And it’s not looking like this will slow down any time soon. As 2015 begins, 75 percent of recruiters say they expect to hire more tech professionals in the first six months of 2015 than the last six months of 2015.
