ABOUT ME

Hello, I am Marvin L. McFadden, Ph.D. Director of Learning and Education Department with Fort Myer Construction Corporation (FMCC). I instruct and sometimes oversee the instruction of all FMCC’s personnel including training and certifying staff in technical, safety, soft-skill curriculums. I am a husband and father of two daughters. I was raised in Washington, D.C., and the youngest son of four. I matriculated through and graduated from D.C. public schools. Attending the prestige’s Howard University in 1982 -1984 and completed my Doctor of Philosophy degree in 2023. In 1992 I was married and moved to Maryland.

I have 39 years of experience in the Construction Industry and the last 15 years has been in Training and Development. Working with major private sector companies. I have worked with the District Department of Transportation for 20 years. Currently, I am part of a team within the Learning and Education Department. If I am not partaking in a training course, I can be found creating course curriculums, meeting with managers to set course schedules, assessing the needs of employees and company, or regularly instructing courses within FMCC at least three to four days a week.

I am currently certified for instruction in the World Safety Organization (WSO) as a Safety Trainer, ATSSA Flagger, ATSSA Traffic Control Technician & Supervisor, ATSSA Truck Mounted Attenuator, OSHA 3015 Trench and Excavation, OSHA Confine Space Trainer, Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED, National Safety Council Defensive Driving, National Safety Council First Aid/CPR/AED, OSHA 2015 Hazardous Materials, OSHA Respiratory Protection, IMSA Work Zone Temporary Traffic Control IMSA Signs and Pavement Markings, Verbal Judo, ICF Life and Career Coaching and OSHA General & Construction Industry. As an instructor, I communicate with different generations of people which energize me to find the right mix of traditional and modern practices to ensure that my audiences can grasp the various teaching materials and mediums but also have and enjoyable academic experience in a vibrant learning atmosphere.

I possess the ability to orate amongst an audience of 1,000’s; manage personnel, equipment, and materials; and manage the planning, feasibility, design, and implementation of new development while collaborating closely with developers, utility companies, sub-contractors, local, state, and federal agencies. I have directed and overseen a portfolio of complex and major capital development projects over my lengthy career. Oh, did I fail to mention that I also hold a leadership position within a progressive and energetic ministry?
