Colt Alton
ABOUT ME

Colt Alton is an innovation specialist that has spent his career improving education technology. His career includes over 20 years of creating, building, and growing innovative education / technology projects and programs.

Mr. Alton specializes in early stage product development, works with organizations to scope, clarify and manage the product vision, and typically consults with organizations through product delivery, implementation and market execution.

Mr. Alton attended Metropolitan State University of Denver and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in History. Upon graduating, he was elected to Phi Alpha Theta, the National History Honor Society. Mr. Alton entered graduate school at the University of Colorado at Denver to pursue a Master's degree in political science. As part of his graduate studies, Mr. Alton helped facilitate a global online classroom that studied the G8 Economic Summit. The online course brought together 500 students from around the world to discuss and debate pressing issues facing the world's most powerful countries. At this summit, Mr. Alton had an opportunity to represent the global classroom to President Bill Clinton.

After successfully facilitating the G8 Summit Online, Mr. Alton was approached by a technology start-up, eCollege, and was asked to join one of the industry's first learning management system (LMS) groups. Mr. Alton made a difficult decision to leave graduate school to help build the startup and focused on implementing online / virtual campuses throughout the country. Over the course of his tenure at eCollege, Mr. Alton implemented or consulted on over two dozen online campus implementations. Some of these implementations consisted of traditional universities, while others were statewide virtual high school networks.

Mr. Alton was later tapped by a former client partner to help build the eLearning practice at Oracle Corporation. At Oracle, Mr. Alton specialized in implementation adoption consulting. This included helping fortune 1000 companies transition from traditional learning methods to embracing and adopting newer trends in disseminating organizational knowledge / information, namely online or elearning solutions. 

Mr. Alton also served as the Director of Technology for LearningU, an online learning provider for language learning solutions. Mr. Alton also contributes his efforts and passion to an edtech platform dedicated to online educators. This network, www.ednak.com, aims to help educators discover, save, share and act on tools and resources that matter most to them and their professional development. 

Most recently, Mr. Alton has severed as the Global Learning Technology Manager for Indeed.com. He has helped lead the strategy and vision for Indeed’s customer facing training platform while helping recruiters of the 21st Century discover and reach their full potential. This role has allowed Mr. Alton to connect branding ideas traditionally found in marketing with intense focus on user experience typically found in product engineering.
