Every year, U.S. companies spend billions of dollars on training; however, a lot of this money is never recouped, as trainees forget what they have been taught rather quickly. According to corporate learning platform Bridge, which recently surveyed more than 1,000 employees, 70 percent of respondents said that in recent training exercises they had forgotten what they had learned within 24 hours. This isn’t necessarily the fault of the employees. Employers often do not utilize any sort of retention tools to help their trained employees remember what was taught. This obviously creates a major need. According to the survey, 72 percent of employees said they would benefit from receiving some sort of refresher to remind them of what was taught during training sessions. This may not seem like a huge problem to many, but thousands of hours go to waste every year, and with it millions of dollars in lost productivity. According to the survey, 45 percent of employees admit to spending at least 15 minutes to look up information previously taught to them. This may not seem significant, but in an organization of 1,000 employees, that’s 5,850 hours lost.
