This course is ideal for beginners seeking a broad introduction to using AI throughout the instructional design process. No prior AI experience is required.
Discover how artificial intelligence (AI) can enhance and streamline your instructional design and content development process in this interactive, hands-on workshop. Learn prompting techniques that improve the quality and relevance of AI-generated outputs and explore practical ways to apply AI throughout the ADDIE process.
Practice using AI tools to support common instructional design tasks, including content development, assessment writing, and script production. You’ll also examine ways AI can support more inclusive and equitable learning experiences and consider the ethical, governance, and data-security responsibilities of AI use.
In a supportive, facilitator-led environment, you’ll experiment with AI tools, exchange ideas with peers, and develop practical skills you can adapt for your own projects. By the end of the workshop, you’ll have actionable prompting strategies, a clearer understanding of AI’s role in learning and development, and a plan for integrating AI effectively and responsibly into your practice.
Access to an artificial intelligence large language model (LLM), such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, or Perplexity, on your computer is required. A personal account or trial version of any tool is acceptable. If using an employer-provided laptop, please ensure you can access an LLM.
