Ibtesam Yassin Hussain

Professor Ibtesam is the director of Training at Numou Education, former Assistant Professor at the Early Childhood Department, at Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University (IAU), Saudi Arabia. She has more than (40) years of teaching experience in teacher preparation programs in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, at the university level as well as the private sector.

Her research interests include teacher education and preparation, teaching & learning methods in early childhood curricula, and stimulating and encouraging the development of critical thinking in teachers, in addition to advocating for the concept of teachers as a researcher for school development. Furthermore, she is active in community service training for parents and educators.

Dr. Hussain has participated in designing many teachers’ education programs, such as the first post-secondary preschool diploma program for teachers in KSA. In addition, she was a member of the committee that developed the NCATE standards-based Bachelor of Education in Early Childhood program at the University of Dammam.

Dr. Hussain’s main interest is ensuring the provision of high-quality programs in the field of preparing early childhood teachers. In this capacity, she is involved in the academic and educational movement, which contributes to the achievement of educational policies within the Kingdom’s vision 2030. She served as a member of several national committees that inform decision-makers in planning policies for early childhood teacher education programs. She was an active committee member in drafting the general and executive framework for all BA early childhood teacher education programs in Saudi universities. In addition, she worked within the committee that reviewed the preschool teacher standards, as well as the committee that reviewed the Saudi early learning standards.

Moreover, she has served as the Director of the University-based program revision unit, at the IAU Vice Presidency for Academic Affairs. Dr. Hussain continues to be committed to play an active role in the development of education in KSA.
