Charles Allard-Wilcox
ABOUT ME

With over twenty years experience in the hospitality industry and ten years experience in classroom teaching, I bring a unique perspective to instructional design and e-learning.

I began my career in hospitality as a chef after graduating from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY. I had the pleasure of gracing such fine establishments as Spago Beverly Hills, Auberge du Soleil, Postrio San Francisco, The University Club atop Symphony Towers in San Diego, among many others.

After my tenure as a chef, I began my career in classroom education as both an elementary and middle school classroom teacher in Mendocino, San Mateo, and Riverside Counties. During the COVID pandemic and distance learning, I was successful in utilizing my master's degree in instructional science and technolgy from CSU Monterey Bay to provide my students with great learning experiences.

Since then I have moved onto more freelance instructional design, geared primarily towards the hospitality and specialty grocery industry. I have come full circle in a sense that I am now working with the Culinary Institute of America's graduate school as instructional design advisor. In addition, I work with College of the Desert in Palm Desert as an adjunct culinary arts instructor.

I greatly look forward to moving forward as an instructional designer and hope to pick up more freelance work in the future. My experience as a chef/manager and educator has provided me with a unique set of skills.
