Boosting Retention Among Millennials

Millennials are the largest subset of the American workforce, and their needs are different from the generations that came before them. In order to retain Millennial workers, managers must understand what matters to them. And the best way to get an answer that question is to ask. For better or worse, Millennials grew up in an environment of customized experiences, and are more likely to stay with a company if they feel their personal needs are being addressed. By asking them what they need, managers will seem sympathetic, and individualized experiences will target Millennials' personal goals and values. Additionally, Millennials want to know that what they do matters. The feeling of working on something bigger than themselves is a major factor in keeping Millennials on board.
